Abstract

This article proposes the management of knowledge as a fundamental activity for the historical problem of labor productivity that Chilean MSMEs face. Initially, the conceptual theoretical framework studies the problem of productivity and its main causes. Subsequently, establishes the relationship between productivity and knowledge from the evolution of neoclassical economic models, as well as the role that knowledge acquires as the main factor of production in the current economy. Consequently, through the analysis and discussion of the data obtained, the article argues the management of knowledge as a contribution to the problem of low productivity through viable methodological proposals, based on self-management and the use of ICT facilitating the exploitation of knowledge and the transition of MSMEs to Knowledge Based Firms.
