Types of Contributions

RHSM, a peer-reviewed publication, publishes the following types of contributions:

- Scientific articles: These are unpublished works that present relevant results and data from completed or ongoing research in the field of history and related areas.

- Review articles: These are elaborations of systematization and synthesis of already published products. They correspond to analyses of positions, results, and analytical associations whose merit lies in opening up or offering new questions and perspectives for further empirical and exploratory research.

- Essays: studies based on established or emerging interpretative structures. The scientific essay builds its proposals on the reflection and tension of such structures to offer new points of view and focus.

- Sources of documents: Unpublished works centered on the information and critical commentary of different documentary collections and records considered important for new research in the historiographical field.

- Reviews: Reviews and comments on the scientific production published in the last three years.

Intercultural Section
The intercultural section is intended for articles written in the languages of Indigenous peoples, related to the history and/or memory of Indigenous peoples of the Americas.

Contributions to the intercultural section must follow the guidelines for each type of submission, with the following modifications:

  1. Submit the text in two versions: one in the Indigenous language and a second version in Spanish, English, or Portuguese.

  2. If the article uses an Indigenous language version that has been translated from another language, the translator’s authorship must be acknowledged.

  3. Consult the glossary of terms at the end of this document to check whether these concepts are available in the Indigenous language in which the article will be presented.

  4. Once the article is approved, the author(s) must send an audio recording of the text in the corresponding Indigenous language.
