Scope

The objective of the Chilean Journal of Gender Studies Palimpsesto is to disseminate research findings and critical reflections that contribute to understanding contemporary phenomena from the perspective of gender and intersectional studies, such as gender relations, sexual dissidence, feminisms, masculinities, feminist epistemologies, and methodologies, among others, with an emphasis on the Ibero-American space. It seeks to provide a space for critical and innovative thinking and research that expands its own boundaries and contributes to academic debate in a novel and questioning way. It is also interested in facilitating links between academic production and social actors and movements, both nationally and regionally, and in strengthening this field of study in Chile, as well as in the Americas and the Caribbean. It assumes an ethos and a sex-politics of knowledge that problematizes and highlights the strong relationships between knowledge, society, and power, and the questioning power as a transformer of the category of gender, even more so when used in conjunction with other axes of inequality such as class, age, ethnicity, sexuality, etc. It also aims to contribute to the strengthening of research practices with a territorial and social commitment that question universal and supposedly neutral knowledge, in order to highlight the impact of the socio-sexual contract on research, as well as the multiplicity of experiences and practices of power in specific contexts and modalities.
